Calendar sync issues
Fix problems with iCal connections, missing reservations, or double-bookings in your Rezi calendar.
Calendar sync issues are one of the most impactful problems in short-term rental management because they can lead to double-bookings. If you notice reservations not appearing, being delayed, or gaps in your blocked calendar, work through this checklist to resolve the issue quickly.
Understanding Rezi's calendar sync
Rezi syncs calendars by polling iCal URLs at regular intervals (every 15-30 minutes). This means there is always a slight delay between when a booking is made on an OTA platform (Airbnb, VRBO) and when it appears in Rezi. This is a fundamental limitation of the iCal protocol, not a Rezi bug. To minimize double-booking risk, ensure your OTA platforms are also subscribed to your Rezi export calendar so they block dates in both directions.
Step 1: Verify the iCal URL is correct
Go to Settings > Building > Calendar connections and check the iCal URL you have entered for each platform. Open the URL directly in a browser, a valid iCal URL should download a .ics file or display calendar data. If the URL returns a 404, 403, or error page, the URL is invalid or has expired. Re-copy it from the platform's calendar settings.
Step 2: Check when the calendar last synced
Each calendar connection in Rezi shows a 'Last synced' timestamp. If the last sync was more than an hour ago, there may be a connectivity issue. Click Sync now to force an immediate sync. If the manual sync also fails, check the error message displayed, it usually indicates whether the problem is a network issue, authentication error, or invalid URL.
Step 3: Check for reservations that exist on the OTA but not in Rezi
Log into the OTA platform (Airbnb, VRBO) and compare the reservations on their calendar against what Rezi shows. If a reservation exists on the OTA but not in Rezi, the iCal feed from that platform may not include it yet. Some platforms take up to 24 hours to publish a new booking to their iCal feed. If the booking is more than 24 hours old and still not in Rezi, the URL may be pointing to the wrong calendar.
If you have a double-booking (two reservations for the same dates at the same property), treat it as an immediate priority. Contact the guest with a later booking, apologize, and arrange alternative accommodation if needed. Document everything for the OTA's dispute resolution process.
Airbnb-specific: snooze period
Airbnb has a known behavior where newly-created iCal subscriptions (Rezi subscribing to Airbnb's feed) can take up to 12 hours to start publishing data. If you just connected your Airbnb calendar to Rezi, wait up to 12 hours and then check whether reservations appear. This is an Airbnb platform behavior, not a Rezi issue.
